Amazing NZ opera
This week, we had the New Zealand Opera come and perform, The Elixir of Love.
Something that I enjoyed about this performance was when the potion guy put L&P in the magic potion and the cup was filled with baking soda and some other stuff and the baking soda caused the cup to overfill then the fish chips worker could fall in love with Adina.
Something that I found interesting about this performance was they all were very talented with their voices, including the actor of Adina it was very impressive that she learned it in 2 days. Also thier outfits were matching their character in the scene.
Something that I learned about opera was that all of their voices were called a surtian name in Italy.

This week in PBL we did minecraft deforestation work.
What did you know about deforestation and climate change before using Minecraft? I know that if we cut down trees which is deforestation and can kill animals and their homes with climate change it will fill your drains with rubbish and cause floods.
Have you discovered anything new about deforestation and climate change?
I now know that climate change causes ice ages and farming causes deforestation.
How do you think deforestation affects you?
It affects us by… trees giving us oxygen and if every tree gets cut down we will die so that’s why we should only cut down a little bit of trees

In Reading I have been learning to do an Animal fact file.
I had to create a slide using the Animal fact file app . My learning goal is to be confident in my reading.
Something that I learned was to not rush on this project and take my time.
Something I found interesting was that I could learn about animals because it is interesting. To learn about animals I don’t really know about.
Something that I found challenging was to get the information on the slide and get my work green so I can get another one finished .

My experience with Andrew Chinn
This week, we had Andrew Chinn come to our school to perform.
Andrew Chinn is a talented musician and artist with over 300 songs! and he also lives in Australia so we are very lucky for him to fly over and perform in front of us.
Something that I liked the most about this performance was when he picked me to come on stage and dance and sing and do funny stuff. I was very nervous going up and I was pretty shy at first but I got out of my comfort zone and I did it .
Something that I learned from this was to not be scared and be brave to go up on stage and never give up on your dreams.

This week we had a visit from Blake NZ-VR. The focus of the session was about Marine mammals.
The 3 things I found the most interesting about marine mammals were that whale tails can slice predators in half and they get their food from fish in pods and they go on a migration every year. I found these interesting because I love whales and I love to hear facts about them.
Something I enjoyed the most was seeing the sharks because I have never experienced seeing them up close.
My favourite part of the VR session was seeing the penguins and the seals because they are interesting to watch.
Something I will take away from this visit was to keep our oceans clean no littering because it can kill all of our oceans animals and seas

Last week in Cybersmart we were learning about Social Media. We investigated lots of different social media apps and what the privacy, age and rules are of each one. We had to complete a table about this.
We then had to create our own social media app, we designed a logo and made screenshots of what the app would look like.
My app is called LMI Games my app is about Gun games.
